Leckie double guides rampant Socceroos past Czechia

Australia winger Mathew Leckie opened the scoring in the 32nd minute before Andrew Nabbout doubled the green and gold’s advantage nine minutes into the second stanza.

Nabbout’s low drive marked the first goal of his senior international career, which is only three games old.

Hertha BSC ace Leckie scored his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute to make the score 3-0, before a flowing counter attack ended with substitute defender Milos Degenek’s cross being diverted into the back of the Czech Republic net by Jakub Jagas 10 minutes from time to round out the scoring.

Soon after the completion of the match the Socceroos ventured back to their base camp in Antalya, Turkey, where the team will stay until next week.

On Thursday, 7 June 2018 the squad will shift to Budapest, Hungary, where they will play Hungary at the Groupama Arena on Saturday, 9 June 2018 (local ti me).

Australia’s final 23-player squad for the World Cup must be submitted to FIFA by 1600 (CET) on Monday, 4 June 2018. Bert van Marwijk will reveal his final squad before the deadline.
